OMG! New York Lifestyle blogger Jen from The Macaron Queen just did a products review for us! If you don't know about her, I encourage you all to read her blog if you love anything to do with beauty, food and DIY projects.
Without further ado, here is her review:
I’m back again with more Korean beauty.
I really, honestly think that K-beauty products are my newest obsession. I just ADORE everything I’ve tried. I’ve noticed that Korean beauty products, particularly skincare, works well with my dry, sensitive skin. And I’m already seeing improvements in my dry patches and hyper-sensitive areas.
To add to my K-beauty addiction, I discovered GOGO Beauty through my friend, Alysia, from college. GOGO Beauty is an online one-stop-shop destination for all things Korean Beauty, from cosmetics to skincare. In my opinion, it’s like Sephora’s chic younger sister. And I’m all about it.
First off, I’m so excited that GOGO Beauty offers free shipping over $45, and even though the company is in Canada, they ship to the U.S. The shop carries brands like LANEIGE (a favorite of mine), HERA, Banila Co., and much loved brands in the U.S. like Estee Lauder, Shieseido, Dr. Jart, and Laura Mercier. ALL IN ONE PLACE! I was so happy to see all of my products (plus a few samples!!) packaged up so quickly and on my doorstep in a matter of days.
I just saw new products and brands added recently (hello, Missha!), so it won’t be long before I GOGO place another order. Check out my reviews of the products I ordered below. And read until the end for a special coupon code from GOGO Beauty!
3CE CREAM BLUSHER #BABY PEACH
$19.99 CAD (about $16 USD)
I am a huge blush fanatic. So huge, in fact, that I think it would be my “If I was trapped on a desert island and could only bring one item of makeup” product (followed closely by an eyebrow pencil, no doubt). This cream blush has been my go-to product for the past 2 weeks. With a drawer full of peachy and pinky hues, I can’t believe that I’ve been reaching for this product day after day. And it still hasn’t let me down. Right after applying my foundation, but before applying a translucent setting powder, I lightly dab a damp beauty blender with just the smallest amount of blush on the back of my hand and dot it on to my cheeks. The smallest amount really goes the longest way.
LANEIGE WATER SLEEPING MASK
$26.99 (about $21 USD)
I love this product so much, it hurts. The first time I tried this overnight mask, it made my skin feel as soft and moisturized as a baby’s butt. IN ONE FREAKING USE. I love putting this cream on once or twice a week as an extra little step to my nighttime routine. Even though the formula is rather thick, your face absorbs it almost instantly and leaves just a light layer to seal in the moisture overnight.
DR. JART BLACK LABEL DETOX BB BEAUTY BALM
$39.00 (about $30 USD)
I feel like I need to try foundations for an extended period of time to really get a good impression. For instance, I really didn’t know how I felt about the BB cream I got from Mizon until I got into the habit of applying it correctly, and now I love it. The same goes for this BB cream. This is definitely one of the thicker BB creams I’ve tried. I love the soft, luxurious consistency and thicker coverage, but I need to play with the best application techniques. A warning for my very fair girls: this product might be a tad dark for me come winter (because I’m SO tan right now, right?), so it’s going to take some investigating to see if I can cut the color down with moisturizer.
MAYU SILK FACIAL WASHING POWDER
$12.99 (about $10 USD)
I really honestly didn’t know what to expect when I bought a powder face wash. I’d never used one before, but I figured a K-beauty version was the best way to go. This face wash seriously GETS in there and clears out your pores. It almost does TOO good of a job, so I’d only recommend it once a day unless you have really bad pores. The best part about this face wash, and my resident-men’s-beauty-expert Jorge agrees with me on this, is the scent – or rather the lack thereof. I’ve always hated the scent of “unscented” products. But this soap literally has NO scent, no smelly irritants and no perfumed nastiness. #win
TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL ART CLASS BY RODIN HIGHLIGHTER
$29.99 (about $23 USD)
I’m going to sound like a broken record with yet ANOTHER one of these products being the most amazing thing ever, but it really is quite remarkable. I don’t know if I’d say its at the same level as my cream highlighter I recently snagged at the Peach & Lily Sample Sale, but it’s a beautiful subtle everyday highlight. Rather than huge pieces of glitter that some highlighters seem to contain, this highlighter is so soft and gives a “glow from within” feel. Also, the packaging is just adorable. so #winwin
